چکیده

There are many assumptions that have been considered when describing black liquor droplet combustion. These include assuming an isothermal particle, a constant diameter particle, inert inorganic species, and one-film diffusion model. This paper shows the effects of systematically relaxing these factors for a 1-D spherical model for black liquor combustion. The flame is described using boundary layer theory. This model uses the power law scheme for combined advection diffusion, and the fully-implicit scheme for the time step. Model predictions show that swelling is the most important variable. Char reactions with inorganic species significantly enhance char conversion.

Prediction of the Combustion Behavior of Black Liquor by Infrared Spectroscopy

Combustion behavior (swelling during combustion and combustion time) of the kraft black liquors varies significantly between pulp mills and also time-dependent variations within a mill occur. In addition, due to the different raw materials and pulping conditions, some further variations in these combustion properties are typically observed. Therefore, by means of the proper process control and ...

REFRACTORIES FOR BLACK LIQUOR GASIFICATION

gasification (BBLG). One particularly harsh application is linings for gasifiers used in the treatment of black liquor (BL). Black liquor is a water solution of the non-cellulose portion of the wood (mainly lignin) and the spent pulping chemicals (Na2CO3, K2CO3, and Na2S). Development of new refractory materials for the black liquor gasification (BLG) application is a critical issue for imp...

Binding and desulfurization characteristics of pulp black liquor in biocoalbriquettes.

To control pollutant emissions from coal combustion in some developing countries, biocoalbriquette, an artificially produced solid fuel, was developed. Both the breaking strength and production costs of the biocoalbriquette have become essentially the most important factors in popularizing it in these countries. To increase the breaking strength and decrease the production costs, it is proposed...

Evaluation of process configurations to produce hydrogen from black liquor

Black liquor is the residue from the kraft paper pulp process and consists, mainly, of water, lignin, organic residues from cellulose and hemicelluloses and inorganic matter (mostly sodium, potassium and sulfur). Before any combustion or gasification, the dry content of the black liquor is increased, typically from 14-18% to 75-80%, to permit autogenous combustion and high conversion efficiency...

4.4-1 Recovery Boiler Chemical Principles

A black liquor recovery boiler has two main functions. On one hand, it generates steam from the heat energy liberated upon combustion of the organic constituents of black liquor burned in the boiler, whereby the recovery boiler serves as a steam boiler. On the other hand, the chemicals from pulp digesting sulphur and sodium are recovered from the black liquor, the recovery boiler then serving a...
